FOLLOW THE PROCEDURES BELOW TO COMPLETE YOUR FIFTH YEAR BENEFITS REQUEST.

This letter is required of all Navy Option midshipmen who desire scholarship benefits beyond their forth year of college.

  1. Fill in all information listed in blue with what applies to you (use black to fill in your information).

    Fill in the number of semesters that you are requesting.

    Fill in the number of hours a civilian student is required to complete to earn a degree in your major at Virginia Tech.

    Fill in the number of hours of Naval Science your school will credit toward your degree.  This number varies with degree programs, so check with your academic and Navy advisors.

    Once you have the above information, use it to fill in the remaining numbers.  Check your math to ensure it is correct.

  2. Last save the letter as your last name and e-mail it to YNC with a copy to your advisor.  Fifth year benefits can be requested anytime during the year, however, the sooner you turn in your request the better.  Use this link to open the Fifth Year Benefits Request letter.
